Roger Weir

This two year course presents an application of both an East and West subject field — with related inquiry of books, cinema and music — in their respective times that range from the Paleolithic to the Interstellar.

Each 90 minute session is a brand new 21st Century conscious education presenting the adventure of ongoing development of our humanity. Each student unfolds her/his development and participation. This case includes audio tapes of 12 sessions comprising one of four sections of the first year cycle.

Roger Weir's eight part educational cycle The Learning Civilization presents a comprehensive education that embraces history, pre-history, philosophy, metaphysics, science, technology, occult, science fiction, literature, art, films, and music, presented not in subject form but in layered phases, designed to recalibrate one's learning, perception, and understanding, with the goal of living and appreciating the diffuse nature of reality, and learning to live within it consciously.

This educational system is important because it offers a means of cutting through traditional educational conditioning through levels of educational recalibration.

The teaching is divided into eight parts, like the octave, over a measured two-year period, with each part following the three-month cycle of the seasons, the yearly cycle, and integrating as well, the millennium (1000 years), the order of the Phoenix (500 year cycle), the Aeon (2000 year cycle), and the Great Year (28,500 years).

For each year, one has a choice of books to read gradually over the year's period. For each month, two books are suggested to read, a set of movies to watch, and a set of music for listening, which are fundamental parts of the weekly presentations.

Each month of any three month cycle consists of one presentation per week, a two book reading list, and a movie and music list. At the end of the three month period one has moved through twelve lectures. The thirteenth presentation of the three month cycle is designated an "interval" between this three month cycle and the next one.

The natural order of progression of the educational system is Nature, Ritual, Myth, and Symbol for the first year and Vision, Art, History, and Science for the second year. However, each presentation has the merit of being able to stand alone but has higher quality within its relationship to the presentation series. So, one can start at any place and find educational value.
